Saf-Viet’s history started in 1999, when Lesaffre, world leader on the market of baker yeast became allied with Cat Tuong, historic player in the Vietnamese market.

In 2002, the shareholders decided to build a new factory together in Long An. Production started in 2008.

Since then, Saf-Viet developed its sales and its production, constantly its quality, to become the reference in compressed yeast not only in Vietnam but also in other Asian countries.

Consequently, in 2012 it was decided to increase the capacity of the factory, to meet the demands of these markets.

Our company’s history was built around two friends, Louis Lesaffre and Louis Bonduelle.

It all started in 1853, when the two men partnered up to erect a grain alcohol and Dutch gin plant in Marquette-lez-Lille in the north of France.

Ten years after they first partnered, the two Louis purchased a mill in Marcq-en-Barœul, which they converted into a grain alcohol distillery.

From that site grew Société Industrielle Lesaffre, which gradually proved to be the driving force and the main support for the group’s industrial and commercial boom in yeast.
